David Conley's 70th Birthday Party

Bay view.jpeg

We are so excited to celebrate Dave's 70th birthday with you at the beautiful Terranea resort this October!

Please find details for the weekend, below. We will continue to update this page, so be sure to check back as the weekend gets closer.

Key Details

Dave only turns 70 once, so we went for the villas!

Dave said "go big or go home" on this one, so we'll be hosting our family and friends in five Terranea Villas during your stay Friday and Saturday night.

Each has between 3 and 4 bedrooms, and en suite bathrooms for most bedrooms.

The villas are all well appointed, with full gourmet kitchens, dining areas, and comfortable furniture. Be sure to check out the photos, below!

Room and home assignments will be shared upon arrival.

Arriving Early or Staying Late?

If you plan to arrive early or stay an extra night or two, please make arrangements directly with Terranea reservations. Phone number: (866) 547-3066.

The resort does fill up fast, so if you're interested in arriving Thursday or staying beyond Sunday noon, contact them soon to reserve a room.

David and Judy will be staying in the Catalina Villa through noon Monday, Oct. 15, so you can store luggage there if you decide to stay an extra night at Terranea. You can also hang out with them a bit longer if you'd like to.

“Dress code”

The "dress code" is no dress code. Please dress in the manner that is most comfortable for you. This is true for the two dinners as well as all other times. We encourage you to be comfortable at all times.

Please, no presents. If you wish (but by no means need to), you may make a donation to a favorite organization in my name. Dave has a personal preference for organizations that educate and serve youth, particularly those that address social justice and equity issues, but you should be free to choose the organization that best reflects your values and interests. Again, there is no expectation that you do so, only an option if you choose to do so.

Friday, October 12

Friday afternoon, 3:00 pm: Check In

Please plan to arrive for check in at 3 pm. All check-in will take place at the Catalina Villa, which is 14-301. After you enter the resort on Terranea Way, take the first right (about 50 yards in) and go to the end of the street. You’ll see the numbers on the villas. Catalina is up a little driveway. Arriving early? Come to 16-301. You can store your luggage there and enjoy the resort! Remember, don’t try to check in at the main lodge; you must come to the villas to check in. If you do end up at the main lodge, ask them to direct you to Songbird (16-301) or Catalina (14-301) villas. Or call or text me (541-915-2832) or Robyn (509-899-4159).

Upon arrival you will be assigned a Villa by name and number. Each guest/couple will have a private room and share a villa with other guests in our party.

What to do

The resort has many events and activities, an the Southern California area has numerous off-site options.

We'll share a specific itinerary for Saturday, soon.

Dress and What to Pack

The weather in Rancho Palos Verdes is often cool, California coastal weather. While it may be warm during the day, do pack plenty of layers and warm clothing.

There is a heated outdoor pool, spa pool, and hot tubs on the property, as well as several Villa hot tubs, so pack a swimsuit if you plan to take a dip.

Terranea resort offers a fully equipped workout facility available for our use. Pack workout gear plus comfortable walking shoes for outdoor hiking and for our Saturday scavenger hunt.

Suggested dress for both evening dinners is resort casual. So we’d suggest (but don’t require) something like dress slacks and button-downs or sweaters for men or a nice sweater and slacks or a casual dress for women.

Check out the Villas!

Catering to an international palate, Terranea’s eight exceptional dining venues range from gourmet cuisine to casual fare - all set against the Pacific Ocean.

Terranea’s signature restaurant reflects a modern twist on California cuisine as inventive as its name suggests (Spanish for “sea” and French for “salt”). With its spectacular cliff-top setting directly above the Pacific Ocean, Nelson’s is a guest favorite for casual dining. Enjoy coastal cuisine and a warm, friendly bar atmosphere surrounded by outdoor fire pits and unrivalled sunset views.
